Collection: Apponyi
By Herend
Commissioned in the latter half of the 19th Century by Count Albert Apponyi, Herend's 'Apponyi' still remains one of the most iconic porcelain dinner services in history.
The timeless pattern was adapted from an earlier Herend décor for the Count, who requested that the dominant motif of the “Indian Flower Basket” design be enlarged and simplified. The result is a dinner service that merges together oriental exoticism and the era's bourgeois poise.
Each piece in the collection is handmade and hand-painted in Hungary to this day, featuring intricate floral patterns and gracefully bending leaves surrounded by a stylised edge detailed in 24 karat gold.
